Cake Takers

Anyone that has been following my blog for a while knows that I never usually use my blog for ranting but something has been ‘more than bugging me’ lately and I just need to vent this one out.

I love blogland the people are kind and generous of spirit and I am sickened to see some people using their blogs (and I’m sure facebook, twitter and anywhere else too) as a way to get people to give them money for no decent reason other than their own greed.
Over the past week I have come across 3 bloggers doing this and I was horrified, needless to say I will not be visiting those blogs again.

There are many things I wish to do in my life, some I will achieve and some I won’t but there is one thing I will never NEVER do and that is blatantly ask for money from my blog followers to help me achieve them.
My household is on a very low income and if I want to do something I have to SAVE FOR IT and sometimes even if I do SAVE FOR IT something else happens and the money might have to go towards that instead but you know what?
I am proud of the fact that I work my ass off for every penny I earn.
I paint and paint until my brain and body aches and if people buy my art then that is fabulous and if they don’t then I have to budget accordingly.

We live in a terrible time of people wanting things NOW and not willing to wait for a while and all this asking for money from strangers is just awful.

There are always exceptions to the rule, people asking for you to donate money to help them with funds for a sick child, loved one, animal etc and I am happy in these circumstances to give what little I can, but when for example someone says “ OMG it’s my lifelong wish to: swim with dolphins/go to Disneyland/travel overseas (insert other silly whim here)” then HELL NO……..get off your lazy ass and earn the goddamn money yourself or get a loan if you really have to but don’t ask for assistance from the generosity of your blog followers and the like it is just plain rude, have some respect for yourself and other people!!!

I am not posting this to start a debate there are people who will agree and people who won’t its fine either way I am merely using my blog to put across my opinion on this matter.

Feel free to leave your opinion but I won’t be responding to comments on this one :o)

Rant over…..nuff said!!!

My Latest artiness will follow tomorrow x

  2. Like you hun we (me and hubby) are on a very limited budget, and same as you we have to save for anything we buy. If the money is not there we dont buy it!! We dont do holidays for that very reason. I would be horrified if I saw a fellow blogger asking for money for such stupid things. I have always said that charity begins at home. You normally find that people who have nothing always try to give everything, and the ones that say "I want" are usually the same ones that are a hell of a lot better off than you and me! Good for you for not following them xxxx

  3. I agree completely!! It's tacky to say the least, to ask people for money for something frivolous. Where is their self-respect?

  4. I totally agree. I can't believe some people even sink to that level. I have a hard time asking for money even when I *really* need it...I can't even imagine asking for money for silly things.

  6. OMG I am totally with you on this one. We're ok now, but after the huge loss we took last year with that real estate debacle and the subsequent ongoing legal battle and seeing what it's done to my husband. Hell no. We work damn hard for what we have and we give lots away to people genuinely in need. But yeah, our holidays etc are either added to our ever increasing mortgage or saved for. If we're bloody lucky.

You are awesome for saying this. It's so spot on.

  7. Blimey Micki, i've been ranting about things for weeks, months even, glad i'm not the only one Ha! Never seen any blogs asking for money so will be wary of them if i do come across any. My rants at the moment are the amount of people coming into my shop trying to sell me things! Mostly advertising but one lady came in recently wanting me to pay her to put my shop on her website so she could offer a discount card, yep, thats right, pay her AND give people a discount - she wasn't happy when we sent her on her way! Hope you're well, loving all your work as usual. xx

  9. Sadly I have come across this as well.I will love to do a painting holiday but I will have to save the funds to do so.I thought when I read it why should I send the money I need for the person to go when I would like to go just as much myself.I was taught at a very small age and all through my life if you want something work for it and save for it.
