Free bees and hail stones

It was a funny old day yesterday, we had glorious sun in the morning and heavy hailstones in the afternoon.
I also had a random opportunity to take some interesting photos of........a bumble bee..... I know totally off my usual topic but here you go anyway ;o)

This little guy who the kids named fuzzy lumpkin?!!! was found on my top lawn in the morning.
Now I am usually the run and hide from bee's type as I am allergic to them, so when I first saw it my instinct was to leave it the hell alone but something made me want to check it and see if it was dead or just chilling out on the lawn having fun in the sun........unfortunately for the bee it was the former.

I was at a loss as what to do with it as I didn't want my silly doggy to find it and munch on it, I decided to pick it up (with a wad of tissue so I didn't get stung) and then my daughter asked if we could take it in the house and look at it......well after a couple of 'omg it's a bee, what if it moves and comes back to life? silly moments' we eventually stopped freaking out and properly looked at it.......you know what?.....bee's are actually really cool and I never noticed before just how fuzzy and cute they really are.

Anyway I took a heap of bee photos and thought I'd offer them up on my blog royalty free to do with them as you please, some photos are better than others....I am not that great with a camera but if you want to use them for arty purposes or anything else feel free!!!

FREE BEE'S

Oh and here are some of those funny old hailstones I was talking about too:

New arty photos will be posted tomorrow I promise ;o)

  1. Love your Bee photos, much better than anything I could have taken that's for sure! As for your hailstones, they're more like bolders, yikes.

  2. Are you sure thats not ice from your freezer?? :) I love the bee, so sad that its a gonna, so pretty as well, especially the wings (a work of art). As you see my avatar is a bee that I painted, so I love them, the fuzzier the better :)

I am allergic to bees too - well honey bees, not sure about bumbles. Did you know they don't have bumble bees in Aussie? What's up with that!

  7. Oh wow! He is quite fuzzy and sweet up close, isn't he? Too bad he met an untimely end. Bees are sweet if you leave them alone. I was out gardening the other day and a little bee obsessively stayed at one flowering lettuce the whole time I was out there. I fear he was a bit obsessive compulsive ;) wonderful photos too, what detail!

  8. You should send the photos of the bee to a magazine or something. They are amazing. Glad you didn't get stung.
