Hello everyone I hope you are all having a wonderful holiday time?
I decided to pop in and wish you all a Happy New Year (slightly ahead of time)
I also wanted to tell you that I have chosen my 'word for the year' I have seen so many of you do this before and I thought I would give it a go, I don't make new years resolutions as such so this fits in better with me :o)
My word for the year is NURTURE
I chose this word for many reasons mainly though because all of this past year I have worked my ass off with making my art into a career and let my health amongst other things slide and am now regretting that after a wake up call from the doctors the other week.
I have always had issues with my spine after an accident when I was younger and my constant work and lack of self care has led to me having more problems than I would care to admit.........Anyway this leads me to my word for the year which will put my health/welfare first and other things second.
This doesn't mean I won't be painting anymore (I know some of you will be fretting ;o) it just means that I won't be working on as many paintings as before or for as long a period of time in one go, I will still be doing my weekly updates but maybe there will be 3 or 4 paintings per week rather than 8 or 9 ;o)
I will also be trying to incorporate my word for the year into my artwork and will be focusing on making paintings that truly make my heart sing instead of trying to do anything and everything ;o)
So with that in mind here is a sneaky peak at 2 paintings I will be putting into my etsy shop sometime next week.
I haven't even taken any proper photos of this one yet, just this rather blurry edged scan ;o)
She doesn't as of yet have a name either lol
This one is called Dreaming and is painted on a 12x12 inch canvas board
Well that's me done for this year, my last blog post of 2011 :o)
I will see you guys here again on the 2nd January 2012 when I will put up info on the mail art swap and a linky button to my email address!!
Until then
Happy New Year to you all x

Wow wow wow. You and I are in a very similar space right now. What I wouldn't give to visit you and talk and talk over coffee for ages! This is such a beautiful post and makes me even more happy that you are my friend.
ReplyDeleteOh! Very beautiful painting clever clogs. Very beautiful!
Happy New Year :) Beautiful paintings as always especially Dreaming x
ReplyDeleteTake care of you! Happy New Year to you!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful paintings!! And it's good to hear that you are going to nurture yourself in 2012. I think we all need to do more of that... Happy New Year!! Hugs, Silke
ReplyDeleteYou've grown so much since I met you way back in Mystele's class--I love to watch artists' journeys--just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHope your 2012 is great, and how right you are--you come first (the older I get, the better I treat myself---since I won't be given another body :)
See you next year!
lovely paintings! they look deep in thought.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you decided to prioritize your health, we never think about it until a problem arises. Nurture is a wonderful word for the year! You should paint the words on canvas, and put it where you work as a reminder. I think I will do something like that when I pick my word :-)
Happy New Year to you Micki!
xoxo

Thanks Betty, thats a fabulous idea I think I might just do that, I will paint it on to paper I think then slap it centre stage to my pinboard above my work table!!

It's a good word you chose. Health is one of the most important thing in life. And one that you probably don't notice until you lose it. I'm happy for you that you're focusing more on your health. :)
ReplyDeleteOh Micki these are sooooooo absolutely stunning. I love your word and do agree it is so important to nurture oneself so that, then, we will have the energy to nurture others. You can't give out all of the sunshine that you do without taking the time to sit in the sun yourself. Happy New Year my sweet friend!!! xxxx
ReplyDeleteI think that is a perfect word for the year, for you. We all need to take time to take care of ourselves. I use to throw myself into my art for hours and hours (late at night) and then regret it each day. I was not getting enough sleep and not taking care of me.
ReplyDeleteYou must do what is best for you. Sounds like you have the perfect plan.
Wishing you a Wonderful New Year 2012!
Tonya
beautiful... wishing you much happiness and a healthy, creative new year

i have chosen a word for the last three years. the first year i loved my word so much that i used it for two years. i might do the same with my second word. for me it was like walking with a new companion seeing the entire world of life through a single word and realizing a single word holds all life within it. so beautiful and enlightening. I wish you the best with nurture!
ReplyDeleteyour paintings are wonderful, as always.
lovely new year to you
may 2012 overflow with days that feel wonderful to you~
a beautiful word to live by Micki, i can relate tohaving a wake up call regarding your health....lovely lovely paintings....Happy New Year too !!!
ReplyDeleteNurture is a fantastic word....
ReplyDeleteOne that speaks volumes to all aspects of ourselves!
Health, is indeed, crucial to being happy....and the main focus for me, too...
I'd much rather see less of your art on a weekly basis....and more of YOU on a yearly basis....so that we end up being 99 year old bloggers (or whatever they have by then) still painting and exercising and living out our dreams! :-D
Much Love, Micki!!
